We want the costumes for both of our characters to clearly and quickly define what type of character they are. This means that we, to some extent, will have to select stereotypical costumes and props that achieve this. The costumes for both characters also need to be practical in terms of being sensible to wear in possible cold, wet and windy weather.
YOUNG GIRL:
For the young girl, we wished the costume to be fashionable and practical. Fashionable and modern costumes are an important aspect to us because we want the audience to be able to relate to our young character as much as possible. If somebody lived on a farm, their costume may be more practical due to their environment and consist of thermal layers, a Barbour jacket and walking boots. If someone rode a motorcycle, they may wear a leather jacket and helmet for safety etc. In the same respect, we wanted her costume to be a representative of her age mainly but also other features such as background and wealth. We want our audience to be subconsciously asking questions such as; how old is she exactly; what do her parents do for a living; where does she live; Why is she wearing these clothes at this moment? etc.

- Ribbon/colourful hairband for her hair
- Pink jacket
- Blue jeans
- Bright wellington boots
We want to use a pink jacket because the colour is heavily linked with infancy and the female gender, both of which feature in our opening. Despite being ideal in portraying the innocence of the character, we decided not to pick a dress because it would be difficult for the actor to deal with the location and weather in such clothing and goes against our risk assessment. Instead, we have decided the girl should wear jeans. Brightly coloured wellington boots seemed a 'no-brainer' when selecting footwear as not only are they suitable for outdoor weather, they also are popular and associated with children.
STALKER:
For the stalker, we want the costume to be simple and classically portray this character as the antagonist. This particular costume must conceal the characters identity. This is particularly important to establish because we want the audience to make assumptions as to who this person is. Along with adding mystery to the opening, this will also allow for a stronger audience connection with this character, as it could be anyone of any age, gender, race and background.
The following list will be pieces of clothing and footwear which will make up the stalker's costume:
- Black hoody
- Dark tracksuit bottoms
- Dark wellington boots
