Our aim was to film as much as we could on this day but we were met with a variety of problems:
TIME- It took much longer to set up each shot then first expected. This was even further prolonged as we were filming the shots that included the car which needed to be turned around and drilled several times.
WEATHER- It was very cold this afternoon fluctuating above and below freezing. This was made worse as the actors (including the dog) were cold while waiting between shots. During the middle of shooting, the weather took a turn on the unexpected side. Although we expected some rain and drizzle and had brought several umbrellas to protect our equipment from getting wet, we did not anticipate heavy rain and hail. It was at this time that we decided to stop and call it a day.
DISORGANISATION- Although we knew what was happening, the actors were unsure of what was exactly needed from them. This with the combination with the grim weather and rushed directions from us created frustration and confusion.
The footage we recorded on that day will most probably be replaced with new work. This is because it will be difficult to match the natural light from both days in adjacent shots. In evaluation, future filming days will need to be more extensively planned. We are currently studying the weather forecasts for the next few weeks so we can co-ordinate further filming times. The 26th has given us a very good idea of how we will need to conduct our next attempt at our thriller opening. This will take into account factors that may delay and disfigure our filming and the risk assessment.
In conclusion, here are some photos from the day:
